About the Role

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager will report to the General Counsel / Interim Head of Operations at The Athletic and partner with executive leaders and employee-led communities across the organization. This person will lead the charge in developing, embedding and sustaining best practices to operationalize DEI principles in all facets of the employee lifecycle and in day to day experience. You will help enhance the collaborative and hard-working culture of The Athletic.

This will be a remote role for candidates located in either the United States or Canada.
Responsibilities
Act as a subject matter expert in organizational DEI best practices, trends, research, employee resource groups (ERGs) and insights in the tech industry.
Partner and maintain relationships with employee-led communities while listening, adapting, providing guidance and building trust.
Be a trusted DEI advisor and partner to The Athletic’s leadership team to ensure all enterprise DEI programs, practices and policies are responsive to the needs of the business.
Collaborate with The Athletic’s People Team to integrate and align DEI across talent acquisition, learning & development and employee engagement.
Execute the company-wide DEI strategy and roadmap and work with the leadership team to update and evolve said strategy to the growing needs of the organization.
Develop materials, as needed, to support the ongoing socialization of the company’s DEI strategy and progress along its journey.
Lead the Company’s engagement survey and data collection efforts.
Work to improve and bias-proof internal mobility, career pathing and succession planning.
Requirements
7+ years of overall professional work experience in Human Resources, Program Management, or related field is necessary alongside 3+ years of DEI experience is required.
Supplemental Education: DEI certifications a plus, but not required.
Program Management Skills: Strong prioritization, task delegation, working group management, and can own multiple highly-complex projects simultaneously while organizing multiple workstreams and navigating ambiguity.
Organizational Resourcefulness: Engages and manages stakeholders at all levels in a fast-paced and fluid environment using keen judgment and pressure-tested decision-making skills.
Interpersonal Communication Skills: Communicates and partners effectively across global organizational boundaries through appropriate channels while exhibiting executive presence and solution ownership.
Accountability: Connects empathetically with all employees across the business to ensure data-backed outcomes are implemented and reported out regularly to increase transparency.
Ability to gather, review and present data in a meaningful manner to drive results.
Ability to earn and build influence across a mission-based and matrixed organization.
This will be a remote role for candidates located in either the United States or Canada.
The annual base salary range for this role is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
